Faridabad has once again made the nation proud on the global stage. Young karate champion Shubhang Vashist clinched a bronze medal at the prestigious Second Asian Open Karate Championship 2025, held in China. Competing against some of Asia’s toughest and most experienced fighters, Shubhang showcased remarkable strength, discipline, and unwavering spirit to secure victory for India.

Heartfelt thanks to KIO Federation for entrusting me as the coach for the 2nd South Asian Youth Open Karate Championship. It was a lifetime experience, juggling multiple responsibilities while guiding our young champions in China. I’m sure this exposure was invaluable for them, and I’m grateful for the trust placed in me.

Last but not least, on the auspicious occasion of Independence Day (15th August), our athletes made us proud with their medal wins.

The championship witnessed participation from several countries across Asia, making the competition extremely challenging. Shubhang’s win stands as a testament to his relentless dedication, years of rigorous training, and the unwavering support of his family and coach Mr. Karan Kathuria, who has been mentoring him since the beginning of his journey.

This achievement not only places Shubhang among India’s rising martial arts stars but also shines a spotlight on Faridabad’s growing sporting culture. Local sports enthusiasts, karate associations, and residents have expressed immense pride in his accomplishment. His victory is being seen as an inspiration for young athletes across Haryana and the country who aspire to represent India on international platforms.

The Government of Haryana and local authorities are expected to felicitate Shubhang soon for his international triumph. Meanwhile, his family has dedicated this medal to the spirit of perseverance and the power of sports in shaping a better future for the youth.

With this bronze medal win, Shubhang Vashist has not only added a feather in India’s sporting cap but also set a powerful example: with determination, focus, and the right guidance, global dreams can indeed turn into reality.
