Former ‘Rajmata’ Madhavi Raje Scindia, Mother of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Passes Away

Madhavi Raje Scindia, revered as the ‘Rajmata’ of the Gwalior Royal Family, breathed her last on 15th May 2024 at 09:28 am after battling illness.

Madhavi Raje Scindia, the esteemed mother of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and former ‘Rajmata’ of the illustrious Gwalior Royal Family, peacefully passed away on Wednesday. Her demise occurred at 09:28 am, following a period of being on a ventilator for several days. For the past two months, Madhavi Raje had been receiving medical care at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi, where she valiantly fought against pneumonia and sepsis, according to statements released by Jyotiraditya Scindia’s office. Her departure marks the end of an era, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.

Madhavi Raje Scindia was born into Nepal’s royal family and married Madhavrao Scindia in 1966. Her grandfather, Juddha Shamsher, was the Prime Minister of Nepal from 1932 to 1945. A philanthropist, she was involved in charity work in multiple fields such as education and healthcare.
